Save The Date - 3rd Annual Danny Burkett Golf Tournament
On October 10, 2010 we will be hosting the 3rd Annual Danny Burkett Memorial Golf Tournament. Thanks to all the support from participants in the two previous tournaments, the Daniel Burkett III Memorial Scholarship has officially become an endowed scholarship at the University of San Diego. We invite you to join us for another great day of golf, friends and fun.

Daniel Burkett Memorial Scholarship Endowed!
The Daniel L. Burkett III Memorial Scholarship Committee would like to sincerely thank everyone for their loving support in memory of Danny.  Thanks to generous supporters like you, we have reached our initial goal of $50,000 raised for the scholarship fund.  As a result, we are extremely proud to announce that the Daniel L. Burkett III Memorial Scholarship is an official, endowed scholarship at the University of San Diego.

The scholarship will immediately become part of the Alumni Association scholarship program at USD.  This exciting program is comprised of scholarships funded mainly by alumni donations and includes other well-known memorial scholarships.  With the help of the USD Alumni Association we hope to steadily increase the size of the endowment, as well as the amount awarded each semester.  Currently, we are in the process of marketing the scholarship to potential student applicants and plan to award the first scholarship in the fall 2010 semester.

The Danny Burkett Scholarship Committee would like to thank all participants, donors, and sponsors of this year's event golf tournament. The tournament was a success and all goals set by the tournament committee were met or exceeded. The total amount raised as a result of the tournament was $17,000!!!

Attached is the official press release for this year's tournament. Please feel free to use this information to inform friends, family, news publications, potential sponsors, etc. This is an incredible achievement and could not have happened without the generous support of the friends and family of Danny Burkett. Our little "community" of supporters should be very proud of what we have accomplished. This is your hard work and dedication! We are now within a few thousand dollars of reaching the $50,000 mark, which will allow us to start awarding scholarships to the students of USD. We will make a strong push through the end of 2009 to meet this goal.
